I really do enjoy watching their journey. I especially love watching high school girls perform on the
basketball court. And, this weekend’s showcase in Winston-Salem gave me plenty of action to enjoy. I left
the event impressed with the play of a number of athletes. I don’t feel the need to name all of the athletes
that I thought performed well. But I do feel compelled to talk about one of the ballers I watched during the
5th Annual College Coaches Showcase.

I honestly felt like Winston-Salem Stealer guard Megan Buckland performed the best during the
showcase. Her game was solid from top to bottom. With that said, I was most impressed with Wake
Forest Wizards point guard Whitney Bunn. What impressed me the most about her was the fact that she’s
only an eighth grader. Bunn was playing like a rising senior. I really don’t know who I would compare her
game to at this moment. All I can say is that she’s smart, smooth, slick and strong. Bunn has a nice shot
too. Her coach, who’s also her father, will tell you that she doesn’t shoot enough. I feel like she shot just
enough over the weekend.

“She’s already got a few Division I schools looking at her,” said Wizards head coach Greg Bunn. “She’s
doing pretty good for us. And, she’s playing up. I think that’s helping her as well.”

Bunn didn’t simply impress me with her offensive skills.  I was actually more impressed with her
defense, and how fearless she’s appeared on the court. Her anticipation for a pass was almost like a
defensive back in football.

I look for even bigger things from Whitney Bunn in the future, as well as some of the other talented players
that performed well during the showcase.
